Two 747 airplanes loaded with 700 people collided on a runway at Los Angeles International Airport, damaging the wings and puncturing the fuel tank of one of the 747’s. The FAA explained that runway incursions such as these are the responsibility of the pilots. Former pilot, turned aviation accident lawyer, John Greaves, explains these incidents are happening because there are too many planes in too little space. Mr. Greaves also points out that ground control is supposed to be aware of every aircraft at all times, indicating failure on their end if incorrect information was given to pilots.
