A Los Banos truck crash has taken the life of a 22-year-old after the victim’s vehicle crashed into the back of a semi-truck. The accident took place on Saturday, June 24, in the early morning hours, outside of Los Banos, California. Although authorities have not released the name of the victim, they have indicated the young man lived in Los Banos. It was one of at least three crashes involving tractor-trailers in California on June 24.
Earlier in June, there were several fatal tractor-trailers crashes in California, including a fatal accident involving a garbage truck and another underride accident involving a big rig.
California Highway Patrol Investigating Los Banos Truck Crash
The victim of the Los Banos truck crash was driving his 2014 Nissan Versa west on Highway 152 at around 2:22 a.m., according to reports, when his Nissan crashed into the rear of the semi-truck. The 2009 International truck, which was driven by Isidor Ramos, of Mexico, was also headed west on Highway 152.
California Highway Patrol notes that after the Nissan collided with the truck, it slid underneath the tractor-trailer, in what is known as an underride truck accident. The sole fatality was declared dead at the scene of the accident. Ramos was not injured in the Los Banos truck crash.
Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been factors in the crash, California Highway Patrol noted.
Valley Village Truck Accident Causes Fuel Spill
In a separate California truck crash that also took place on June 24, this one around 9:30 a.m., a cement truck rolled over and caused a fuel spill, closing the 101 Freeway northbound in Valley Village. Before firefighters could address the fuel spill, approximately 75 gallons had leaked. Some of that fuel reportedly made it to the storm drain.
No Serious Injuries in Weldon Canyon Truck Accident
Also on June 24, a collision involving multiple vehicles including a tractor-trailer resulted in traffic delays on southbound 5 freeway north of McBean Parkway near Weldon Canyon, in California. Although multiple vehicles were involved in the crash, no serious injuries were reported. The initial crash occurred at around 9:17 a.m. when a big rig overturned and blocked the #1, 2, 3, and 4 lanes on Interstate 5. Several vehicles reportedly hit the tractor-trailer after it rolled over.
Poway Truck Crash Kills Teen
Earlier in June, a 19-year-old woman died when the car she was driving crashed into a truck that was stopped by the side of the road. A Sparkletts Water truck had broken down and was parked on the side of the road when the victim’s car collided with it on Tuesday, June 13. California Highway Patrol reports that in addition to the deceased victim, another 19-year-old was cut from the wreckage and flown to Palomar Hospital with serious injuries.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Sparkletts truck was also taken to Palomar Hospital with injuries.
